Medicare
Medicare rebates
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP (or psychiatrist/paediatrician), you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate on a set number of sessions each calendar year under the Better Access initiative.
Karen is a registered Medicare provider. For a standard $220 session, the Medicare rebate is currently $101.55, so your out-of-pocket cost is $118.45. Rebate amounts are set by Medicare and can change each year.
To use a rebate, bring or send your referral before your first appointment.
DVA
DVA and veteran referrals
Karen provides treatment to DVA clients with a D904 referral from a GP. There is no cost to you.
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs can fund mental health treatment for many veterans and former ADF members. You don’t need to have a service-related condition accepted first. For the latest eligibility information see dva.gov.au or call Open Arms on 1800 011 046.

- Open Arms: Karen sees clients referred through Open Arms, Veterans & Families Counselling.
- Employee Assistance Programs and workers compensation: get in touch to check whether your program or claim can be used.
Cancellations
Cancellation policy
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment. Appointments missed without notice are charged a $100 fee.
Life happens. If something comes up, let the practice know as soon as you can.
