Telehealth

Telehealth psychology sessions, from wherever you are.

Secure video sessions offer the same care, structure and confidentiality as meeting in person, without the drive or the waiting room.

Who it suits

Is telehealth right for me?

Telehealth can suit people who:

  • Work shifts, rosters or FIFO
  • Live outside the Mornington Peninsula or in regional areas
  • Have mobility, health or transport barriers
  • Prefer the privacy of their own space
  • Want to keep continuity while travelling or on leave

Karen can see clients anywhere in Australia by telehealth. Some people prefer to start in person and move to telehealth, or mix both. That’s fine.

How it works

What you’ll need

  • A private, quiet space where you won’t be overheard
  • A phone, tablet or computer with a camera and reasonable internet
  • Headphones, if others are home
  • A link to your session, sent beforehand

If the connection drops, Karen will call you on the number you’ve provided.

Privacy

Keeping sessions secure

Sessions use a secure, health-grade video platform. Sessions are not recorded.

At the start of your first telehealth session Karen will confirm where you are and an emergency contact. This is a standard step that keeps you safe.

FAQ

Telehealth questions

Can’t see your question? Get in touch. There’s no such thing as a silly one.

Is telehealth as effective as in person?

Telehealth is a well-established way to access psychological care in Australia. Many people find it works well; others prefer in person. You can discuss what suits you with Karen.

Can I claim a rebate for telehealth sessions?

Yes. Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, and DVA funding, can apply to telehealth sessions in the same way as in-person sessions. See Fees & Referrals.

What if I’m not comfortable on video?

Let Karen know. You can talk through the options, including seeing Karen in person in Mornington.
